When possible, Justin and I try to go out mobile for QSO Parties in
the area. We're slowly getting better at it - it takes time and effort
to learn all of the tips and techniques.
It's all about traveling to different counties of a state and then
operating from a county ... either while in motion or while parked
along side of the road.
Generally, our technique is to run counties from a stopped location ...
ie, stop-n-op. This way I can fire up my heating pad and enjoy some
relief for my lower back and left hip while we are driving from one
county to the next. Note that a heating pad with DC-to-AC converter
is VERY noisy with regards to QRN - ie, a strong buzzing radio
interference!
Below is a listing of contests we have participated in while mobile.
We often stop to get a picture of the county sign as we enter a new
one.
